Week Six 4/26/2023

The last games of the group stages took place last night! 2 teams getting the W, and advancing to the quarter finals!

We will start in court 2, where KN and Mainfreight squared off. Last time KN only had 5 players, but this time they showed up with a full team and 2 subs! Mainfreight was without their Talisman aka "Big Chris", but they had the full support of the Mainfreight Cheerleaders!!!! .... Very even match up - with some hefty duels back and forth! First set went to Mainfreight, second set to KN. 1-1. The last 2 sets were EXTREMELY close, but KN pulled off the W and thereby secured their spot in the playoffs! Mainfreight unfortunately are out of this year's tournament.

On Court 2 .... Bollore once again came prepared! To quote Alexander Graham Bell - Before anything else, preparation is the key to success. Bollore had a full team of 12 players, ready to play. Unfortunately Shipco was not able to get enough players for their team, so they had to forfeit giving Bollore the automatic W. That did not deter Bollore however, they stayed the full 90 minutes and used this as an extra practice session to get ready for their upcoming quarterfinals!

Happy hour was as always at T-Woods, and this time generously sponsored by our friends at BWS Logistics! Thank you very much!

A fun evening .... and stay tuned for the announcements on the Quarter Final play offs coming up!

Week Five 4/19/2023

On court 1, we had CEVA taking on Rohlig. Both teams showed up in full force. CEVA had their lethal server who did not disappoint, and took 11 points with her brutal serve for CEVA. CEVA won the game, and are no progressing to the playoffs! Congrats!

Over on court 2 .... Scan Global versus Geodis. Scan Global unfortunately only had 4 players!!???? ..... But they came to play! Was a fun game to watch and a lot of volleys back and forth. Ultimately the 4 Scan Globians persevered and won the game!

Happy Hour as always was at T-Woods - and well attended!! Good laughs, stories and drinks where shared! Generously sponsored by our friends at Innovative Transport Solutions - thank you

Week Four 4/12/2023

Once again it was an action packed evening with 4 teams going all out!

Bollore made their debut, and showed up in FULL force, strongly supported by 20+ colleagues who had made the effort to come cheer their team on! Big big kudos! The atmosphere was LOUD! Bollore faced off against the reigning champions JAS, who also brought their fan crowd for support! JAS came out SWINGING, taking the first set in record speed. Bollore however were just getting warmed up. We had some fierce battles back and forth - I counted 29 touches on one ball. In the end however JAS took the W, and they are now undefeated.

On court 2, KN also made their debut - and unfortunately due to a big RFQ, they only had 5 players. They were looking to replicate CEVA's amazing efforts from last week against CHR. KN faced off against GW aka the Orange Wave who had their 6'6 Austrian talisman with them! GW started out hot, and got ahead 2-0. Then the comeback started .... Ernie Valencia scoring 6 points in a row with some nasty serves, and KN took a set with a 2-1 score ... the game on court 1 was over, and now everyone was watching the KN vs GW game and watching the comeback .... JAS, having faced off against GW in a tough final last year, were all rooting for KN!!!!!

This only fueled the Orange Wave, who turned up the heat in the last set, and won the game 3-1 .... Great efforts by all!

Happy hour was as always at T-Woods , and graciously hosted by US Expediters! Thank you very much to the team at US Expediters!

Week Three - 4/3/2023

What great matchups this week!

On court 2, CEVA showed up 1 person short and no subs .... But they came to PLAY ...

They took on CHR who where fresh of a win from week 1--Epic battles where everyone gave it their absolute all. What a nail biter as every set was close. At the end CEVA pulled a 3-2 win against all odds!!! Congrats to CEVA

On court 1, Scan Global had the seasons first game against DSV. DSV came in force and took a 3-0 win although Scan fought hard.

Bollore had sent a scout to check out the competition as well. Needless to say, the competition is heating up!

Week Two - 3/22/2023

The Midwest Freight Forwarders Volleyball tournament took place y'day. Gebruder Weiss aka the Orange Wave showed up with 12 team members ready to play! They squared off against Mainfreight led by "Big Dude Chris" ..... Some epic battles back and forth, Big Dude Chris blocking left and right! The passion was there on both sides, and GW took the W with 3-1 .... Over on court 2 Shipco faced off against the reigining champs JAS. Shipco played hard, but unfortunately left half their team back at the office handling shipments, and with no subs - JAS cruised to the W with 3-0 ........ Happy Hour was as always at T-Wood and sponsored by Caliber this time! Fun times all around, with some exciting games and fun networking!

Week One

And just like that, this year's Midwest Freight Forwarders Volleyball tournament was kicked off last night! We had CHR going toe to toe with Rohlig. Had some epic battles and blocks, however CHR pulled the WIN! On court 2, DSV vs Geodis. There was some rust to be shaken off for sure, but it was clear that DSV had been practicing and they swept Geodis 3-0. The second half of the evening was spent at T-Woods with a Happy Hour GENEROUSLY sponsored by BWS Logistics! Thank you very much Rob and team!
